Joint PhD Supervision (Cotutelle)

The cotutelle is a system that allows a PhD student to conduct their thesis while being enrolled simultaneously at both a French institution and a foreign institution over the same period (tuition fees are paid at only one of the two universities). A cotutelle agreement is signed between the two institutions, specifying details such as the time spent in each country and special conditions for the thesis defense.
As a result, PhD students are required to carry out part of their research in France and part abroad.

Short-Term Mobility During the PhD

The PhD student is enrolled at the French institution that will award the doctoral degree and may undertake one or more research stays abroad during the 36 months of the PhD.

International PhD Students

International PhD students may receive support upon arrival from the International Relations or Research departments of their host institution.
